A CUTE TRAVELOGUE INCLUDING ISTANBUL AND IZMIR WITH MANY ENGRAVINGS… Industrialist, diplomat, and patron of the arts Russian Prince Anatole De Demidoff described his observations on a scientific delegation tour organized by himself in the 1830s, covering the Danube and Crimea, and then Istanbul and Izmir. The travel book was enriched by numerous engravings of Denis Auguste Raffet, the French well-known lithographer and Orientalist painter of the period.
