Haydar Besim Aydar

HAYDAR BESİM AYDAR (1933-2020)

H. Besim Aydar was born in 1933 in Eskişehir. Aydar's interest in painting, who also spent his childhood here, started with his enthusiasm for his father's practice of painting.

After primary school, they settled in Istanbul for Aydar's education, and with the encouragement of his painting teacher who had just returned from France in secondary school, he began to paint Istanbul landscapes with oil paints.

At the suggestion of his high school biology teacher, he started to sell his paintings, and on this occasion, he had the opportunity to meet İbrahim Safi, who had an exhibition at the French Consulate at that time, and hearing his praises further stimulated his interest in painting.

Aydar had stand near Grand Bazaar where he attracted the attention of tourists and met with Hikmet Onat, that way benefited from his ideas.

Aydar, who made his living by painting, took a break from his art for a while due to health problems, but eventually established Gallery 9, continued his ties with Hasan Kavruk, the secondary school painting teacher, and helped Cahit Derman to progress in the art of painting. In the same period, his paintings were exhibited together with the works of Hikmet Onat in an exhibition opened by a bank.

Aydar, whose three children grew up as painters, continued to work on painting until his death.
