SELAMİ BARUTÇU (1897 - ?)

Barutçu was born in 1897 in Üsküdar. He is a descendant of Doctor Barutçu İbrahim Efendi from Malatya. He is the son of Mustafa Barutçu. He received his first art education from his father and then he received painting education from Cemil Bey in Toptaşı Junior High School and from Şehit Hasan Rıza Bey in Edirne High School. An officer left Harbiye in 1914, and for a while he took decor lessons from Italian painter Izzora Bella. He made the decorations for the Istanbul Master, Yedekci and Boatmen operettas of the Istanbul operetta delegation. At the entrance of the old 4th General Inspection building in Elazığ, there are works named "Mameki" and "Ovacık and Munzurlar". The artist, who rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel in his profession, has oil and watercolor works. The artist's date of death is unknown.
