ÜMİT COŞKUN DEMİROK (1950 - )
Ümit Coşkun Demirok was born in Ankara in 1950. He completed his art education in Abschluss FH in Germany and Düsseldorf. Coşkun Demirok paintings refuse to refer to anything that exists outside of them and resists making any sense. His works which are coming from architectural formation, the actions of creating space on a two-dimensional surface draw attention. In the works of Coşkun Demirok, the viewer follows the traces of lines and stains that intersect, repel, pull each other and witness the process of being in the tension and energy created by all these. Coşkun Demirok brings architectural works and topographic formations into consideration with the coincidence of the observed, perceived and known, but forgetting the known leads us towards pure color, the dynamism of the composition, the formation of the painting. When the artist's works in general are examined, it can be observed that he prefers a plain and direct way of expression, he is against a tendency such as using symbols from the beginning, drawing attention to a subject, making it a story, filling an artwork with a certain content. The artist, who prefers to reveal what is meant to be told in the formation process of the works by abstracting from his individuality and emotionality as much as possible, the artist tries to exclude himself from the relationship between the audience and the work, especially avoiding "a typical handwriting".
