BORİS JİRKU (1955 - )
Jirku was born in 1955 in Zlin, Czech Republic. He studied art between 1970-1974 at the Uherske Hradiste Applied Fine Arts School and between 1974-1980 at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts at the Ernest Paderlik workshop. The artist, who worked as a music teacher until 1990, gave drawing lessons at the Prague Art Academy for 17 years. Jirku is one of the founders of FIGURAMA, which organizes exhibitions and art events for university students in the Czech Republic, in the United States and Europe, and still works as a manager in this institution. Professor, who is a painter, sculptor and cartoonist. Jirku has participated in many local and foreign group exhibitions. He still works as a lecturer in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Plzen, Czech Republic, as well as the coordinator of master's and doctoral programs at the Academy of Fine Arts in Banska Bystrika. Dynamic perspective, figurative and colors play a very important role in most of his works. His paintings are the infiltration of modern and contemporary life with a realistic authoritarian expression.
