Ayşe Öykü

AYŞE ÖYKÜ (1980 - )

She was born in 1980 in İstanbul. She first graduated from İstanbul Anatolian Faculty of Fine Arts, Art Department. She graduated from Mimar Sinan Faculty of Fine Arts in 2002. She took classes from Devrim Erbil, Aydın Ayan and Yalçın Karayağız. She interned in Serdar Tanyeli's photography studio in 2002. In 2004, she took classes from Prof. Klaus Stümpel at Hochschule für Bildende Kunst, Braunschweig/Germany. In 2005, she continued her education with Prof. Udo Scheel and Prof. Cornelius Völker in Germany/Kunstakademie Münster. In 2007, she completed the master program in Kunstakademie Münster. In her work, she used cranked toys and pellets. The artist uses her own cultural background, as well as, the different cultures related to nature and urban architecture that she has traveled and lived, reflect on her artworks. Clearly, the observer can notice her cultural experiences exposed together with strong contrasting colors, which reflect light on the canvas. She also earned the award of Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, lives and works in Germany.
