SAMİ BAYDAR (1962 - 2012)
He was born in 1962 in Merzifon. Since his primary school years, he has attracted the attention of family members with his painting talent. He entered the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts in 1979. After attending the Traditional Turkish Arts Department for a year, he moved to the painting department. He worked in the workshops of Neset Günal and Devrim Erbil. His first poems were published in Beyaz magazine. In 1984, he won an award in the painting contest opened by Gösteri magazine. He opened his first personal exhibition at Garanti Bank Yonca Modern Art Gallery. He participated in various group exhibitions. His drawings were exhibited at the 6th International Istanbul Biennial, curated by Paolo Colombo. His paintings and drawings were exhibited in the "Regrets, Dreams, Changing Skies" exhibition curated by Fulya Erdemci at Karşı Art Works. He participated in the "Organized Conflict" exhibition in Project 4L, curated by Fulya Erdemci. He took part in the Modern and Beyond exhibition opened in Santral Istanbul. He took part in the anthology New European Poets prepared by Wayne Miller and Kevin Prufer for publication. In 2012, he participated in the Mardin Biennial curated by Paolo Colombo and Lara Sarıarslan.
