Mustafa Özel (1961 - )

Mustafa Özel was born in 1961 in Yenipazar. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Atatürk Education Faculty at the Marmara University. Özel depicts pain, agony, suffering, and elements that exhibit the loss of will for life through the deformed bodies he paints, with an emphasis on the suffering experienced through the fight against pain. Besides characters in his compositions, Özel reflects the collapse of the human spirituality and intellectuality on human body, and he shows the cliffs in life. Moreover, his work illustrates “life’s games upon human existence” that could be seen through the depictions of the adventures of humans fighting against life’s unfortunate circumstances. Mustafa Özel currently lives and works in İstanbul.
