In 1905, Japan defeated the Russian Empire in 1905 to increase its own security and increase its influence over China. As a result of the conflict between the USA and the Soviet Union after World War II, the pro-Soviet North Korea and the pro-American South Korea were established in 1948. The 1947 Korean 100 Yen banknote is the last Korean banknote printed in Yen with the Japanese Emperor before the division.
