Bedri Baykam (1957 - )
Baykam was born in Ankara in 1957, Baykam studied Economics at Pantheon-Sorbonne University in Paris during 1975–1979. He practiced acting at L’Actorat in Paris between 1979 - 1980. He continued his education on cinema and painting at the College of Arts and Crafts in California during 1980 and 1983. His paintings, which can be interpreted as a protest or con-argument towards art, has a style that is close to modern American liberal expressionism. Bedri Baykam is the only contemporary Turkish artist that was included in both of Edward Lucie Smith’s books, Art Today and Art Tomorrow, a worldwide famous art critic. His artworks are in several museums and private collections in Turkey and abroad. Lives and works in Istanbul.
