Mehmet Günyeli (1955 - )

Günyeli was born in Istanbul in 1955. He graduated from the Lycee Saint Joseph  and earned his BA from the Faculty of Political Science. He started photography in 1980s. He completed a photography project called “Colors of the World”. For this project, he traveled to many countries that are successful in preserving their own cultures regardless of the globalization. He is well known for his opposition against globalization. In recent years, his work is concentrated on contemporary and conceptual themes. He has published four books on photography titled “Viva Cuba Libre”, “India” “Dervishes” and “Sea of Destiny” and one dvd on the “Colors of the World”. His works have been exhibited in Villa Oppenheim, Berlin in 2009 and Fine Arts Museum, Houston in 2010. His works are included in the collections of İstanbul Modern and Elgiz Contemporary Museum and Houston Museum of Fine Arts. He lives and works in Istanbul.
