Münip Özben (1932 - 2005)
Münip Özben studied at the Higher Painting Department of the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. Özben, who left the Kocamemi Atelier in 1957 as the first, completed his education at the Istanbul Conservatory in the same year. Painter Özben established the Painting and Sculpture department in the National Library and worked actively in the organization and development of the collections there. Özben also pioneered the establishment and development of the Nature Museum at the Mineral Research and Exploration Institute, where he worked as the head of the Painting House. Münip Özben worked as a lecturer in the Mining Engineering Department of the Eskişehir State Academy of Engineering and Architecture. Özben wrote articles on art and painting in various magazines. Özben, whose pattern element predominates in his paintings, also worked on deformed figures. Adopting the impressionist approach, Özben won a success award in the painting competition of Ankara Art magazine in 1975.
