The issue of the French magazine L'Illustration, dated 25 November 1922, with a photograph of Abdülmecid Efendi, who was the caliph on November 18, 1922, and his daughter Dürrüşehvar Sultan, taken at the door of their mansion in Üsküdar Çamlıca. Abdulmecid Efendi, who was the last Caliph, was the caliph from 17 November 1922, when Sultan Vahdeddin fled, following the separation and abolition of the caliphate and sultanate on 1 November 1922, until 3 March 1924, when the caliphate was abolished and he and his family were exiled abroad. In the magazine, there is an article titled "New Caliph Abdulmecid", reporting the abolition of the sultanate in the Ottoman Empire, Sultan Vahideddin's escape to Malta on a British ship, and Abdulmecid Efendi's becoming the new caliph, and a photograph of Sultan Vahideddin in his horse-drawn carriage.
