SULTAN II. ABDULHAMID AND RUSSIAN TSAR NIKOLA AT BEYLERBEYI PALACE

The issue of the French magazine Le Monde Illustre, dated April 20, 1878, with an engraving on the cover of the Russian Tsar Nikola's visit to Istanbul after the San Stefano (Yeşilköy) Agreement, to meet with Sultan Abdulhamid II at the Beylerbeyi Palace. The article titled "Russians in Istanbul", details the defeat of the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish-Russian War of 1877-1878, which ended with the Treaty of San Stefano on March 3, 1878, and then the visit of the Russian Tsar and his delegation to Istanbul, and their meetings with Sultan Abdulhamid II and his pashas. In the middle of the magazine, there are 2 full-page engravings depicting the Russian Tsar Nikola and his delegation, and Sultan Abdulhamid II and his pashas, all together in the Beylerbeyi Palace.
