It says "notgeld" on this banknote, but it's an independent zone note. The Memel Region, which belongs to the German Prussian state, was taken from the Germans after the First World War and was defined as an independent region under the control of the League of Nations, created by the Entente countries in 1920 with the 1919 Versailles Treaty. The note offered for sale is one of the first coins of Memel, which was defined as an independent region after the First World War.
