MURAT AKAGÜNDÜZ (1970 - )

Akagündüz was born in İzmit in 1970. He studied in the Painting Department of Mimar Sinan University Faculty of Fine Arts between 1988-1995. Then he started his MA studies and opened his first solo exhibition in Istanbul. He raised himself in Devrim Erbil’s studio. Known as one of the artists of Hafriyat Group, he investigates city and the architectural structures of the city. He searches and ponders the meaning and the place of these structures in social life. Instead of watching the city from far away and ignore the artists who examines the visible and invisible parts, he carries the problems like “city, architecture and identity” to the canvas which are often used in art world. His works has figurative meanings and landscape elements. His paintings grows from nature and people’s reality. He lives and works in İstanbul.
