Fahri Sümer (1942 - ) He graduated from Istanbul Fine Arts Academy Painting Department in 1965 at the Ateliers of Halil Dikmen, Cemal Tollu and Neşet Günal. In 1981, he started to work at Izmir Buca Higher Teachers' School. In 1982, he received "Competence in Art" from Dokuz Eylul University Social Sciences Institute. and became Associate Professor in the same year. In 1987, he was accepted to Dokuz Eylul University Buca Education Faculty. He received the title of Professor in 1992. He held managerial positions in Buca Education Faculty such as Department Head, Department Head, Faculty Board Member, Educational Sciences Institute Member, and Senator. He retired from Dokuz Eylül University Buca Education Faculty in 2008. He formed his pictorial personality by being influenced by Rembrant, Cezanne, Bernard Buffet and Chinese and Japanese arts. He treated local subjects with reduced color and stain values. In his appearances since the 1990s, he mostly dealt with the coastal-urban issue of the Aegean region. With an approach that prioritizes design, it reflects the harmony between people and the environment they live in with an abstracting tendency.
