ÇOBAN RESSAM (1949 - )
Known as "Shepherd Painter", Süleyman Şahin was born on April 14, 1949 in Eskişehir. He dropped out of primary school until the 4th grade due to family reasons. Süleyman Şahin, who started working from childhood and worked as a shepherd to earn a living in Ankara, turned to art when his interest in painting and talent was noticed. He was known as "Shepherd Painter" in art circles because of his work on rural life in his landscape paintings and he was a shepherd in the past.
The artist established Painters Street in Bursa, where he settled in 1986, and had a share in the training of talented new painters there. His paintings are modeled after great painters such as Van Gogh, Edouard Manet, Claude Monet and Sisley. Shepherd Painter Süleyman Şahin has over 10,000 thousand portraits depicting the nature and rural life he drew in private collections, mostly abroad. The artist lives in Bursa and Ankara.
