Hakan Gürsoytrak

HAKAN GÜRSOYTRAK (1963 - )

Gürsoytrak was born in Ankara in 1963. He graduated from the Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. In 1990, he graduated from the Mimar Sinan University, Fine Arts Department. Gürsoytrak earned his graduate degree from Reading University (UK), Fine Arts Department. In 1996, he received his proficiency with his thesis “Symbol in Contemporary Art” from the Institute of Social Sciences Anatolian University. His works are complemented with photography. He questions the news rather than the logic of the news photograph while transferring them to his paintings. He creates his canvases with a symbolist speech. Even though the subject is in the foreground, it never represses the meaning of the painting. Each brush stroke each color that he chooses points to something. The artist, founder of the “Excavation” and “Excavation-Karaköy” works as faculty at the Mimar Sinan University.
