Süleyman Saim Tekcan

SÜLEYMAN SAİM TEKCAN (1940 - )

Süleyman Saim Tekcan was born in Trabzon in 1940. He is a painter, film actor, sculptor, print, graphic and engraving artist and lecturer.

He continued his duty at the Istanbul Atatürk Education Institute, which he started in 1968 as an "Instructor", until 1975. In the meantime, he conducted researches in Germany on the "Printmaking" training, which lasted for a year in 1970.

In 1975, the artist, who completed his undergraduate degree in the Painting Department of the State Academy of Fine Arts, which would later become the Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty, took his place in the faculty of Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty by obtaining a proficiency in Art, equivalent to a "PhD" from the same faculty. In 1985, he was appointed as the Head of the "Graphic Art Department" with the title of Professor.

He gave Unique Printing seminars both in Turkey and abroad.

In 1994, he became the dean of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Faculty of Fine Arts. The artist, who has been the Founding Dean of Yeditepe University in 1996 and the Chairman of the Founding Board of the Istanbul Graphic Arts Museum since 2004, is still the founding dean of the Isik University Fine Arts Faculty.
