Hikmet Karabulut started his art life at the Marmara University of Fine Arts, then continued his studies at Paris Beaux-Arts Fine Arts School Caron Workshop.
In his works, he prefers to put emphasis on "small details". He considers art as a concept not directly involving the human being and he tries to reveal the effects of time in his art and thus reflects it to us. In his paintings, he brings the objects that were once important to us, but now almost forgotten, thus reminding us again, the concepts otherwise left behind and tries to bring back our past, our present, our joys and sorrows.
His lines sometimes skip reality and at other times reflect it in human bodies: mouldy fruits, broken, rusty, dusty objects, written and torn pieces of paper, thus accentrating how life passes away. No wonder, the most important aspect of his painting is that hope is always there.
