Oktay Anılanmert

Oktay Anılanmert was born in 1939 in İstanbul. He graduated from the Paintings Department of the İstanbul Governmental Fine Arts Academy (presently named Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University). In 1971, he was appointed as assistant at the Academy, and became professor in 1989. In his compositions, where the elements of burlesque and satirization are reflected as exaggerated figure arrangements, human behaviors and relations are handled within funny dimensions. The description of the effective motives and basic forms chosen separately for each of the consecutive subject systems, in such a way that they melt away within the painting and spread on its surface, is an important characteristic of the artist. The artist, who is the Department Chief of the Graphic Design Department of Kadir Has University, Fine Arts Faculty, lives and works in İstanbul.
