AHMET FAZIL AKSOY (1949 - )
He was born in Samsun in 1949. After completing his primary and secondary education here, he studied at the Istanbul Faculty of Law. The artist, who worked as a lawyer briefly after graduation, focused entirely on painting after 1980.
The artist, who interprets impressionism with his understanding of painting, is mostly known for his Istanbul paintings. Ahmet Fazıl Aksoy, whose mastery of brush strokes that bring emotional, soul-caressing Istanbul views to the top, combined with impressionist colors, creates insatiably beautiful aquarelles. With his interest in the picturesque atmosphere of Istanbul, he describes the Bosphorus, Emirgan, Maiden's Tower, Golden Horn, Sarıyer, and Üsküdar, He painted Kandilli, Anadolu, and Rumeli Kavağı, Çubuklu and Galata, boats, old neighborhoods and reflected the naive side of his personality, which speaks little, in every corner of his canvas. One of the most important characteristics of the artist is his effort to trace the corners of Istanbul with his easel and capture the lights of the day. Prof. In Tuğray Kaynak's words, he is the artist who is the most sincere, sensitive, and authentic and original brush strokes among this generation. The artist, known for his paintings of Istanbul, says that this city is the most beautiful and picturesque in the world. His works contributed to the formation of the group called Istanbul Painters.
The artist's works are in private collections abroad, especially in England, and especially in bank collections in Turkey. Ahmet Fazıl Aksoy, one of the last representatives of the Istanbul Painters Generation, who reflects the places identified with the history of Istanbul with all their beauty on his canvases, continues his life and works in Istanbul.
