Peter Zimmermann (1956 -)
Zimmermann was born in Freiburg, Germany in 1956. He completed his education at Staatlichen Academy during 1979–1984 period. In 1980s, he was inspired by the covers of books and for long years he used posters, wall papers, printed materials and boxes in the creative phases of his work. Starting in mid-1990s, he used the materials that he sourced with computer effects and added different interpretation with abstraction in his work. The artist creates manipulated compositions by transferring images to the computer with the cell structures that he looks under the microscope and or sometimes the details of buildings, mountains, and blocks. He develops works that have prints from the everyday life which he mixes with epoxy material. His works have been exhibited in leading Galleries and Museums such as Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten, Klagenfurt (2009), Galerie Horach Moya, Palma de Mallorca new paintings, Galeria Filomena Soares, Lisbon currents, cma, Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, Ohayo (2008) wheel, Kunsthalle Nuremberg (cat.) Reliance, Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris (2007). He lives and works in Cologne-Germany.
