Peter Kogler (1959 - )
Peter Kogler was born in Innsbruck/Austria in 1959. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Vienna. Kogler began his artistic journey in the tradition of conceptual and media art, developing his explorations at the intersection of different disciplines and media - performance, video, film, painting, computer art, sculpture and architecture. After several years of research in painting, performance and experimental film at the beginning of his career, he has been using computer technology since 1984.
Kogler's characteristic imagery consists of minimal geometry and repetitive motifs of figures such as pipes, ants and mice. By creating his own atmosphere through 360-degree angled projections, the artist constructs a completely new world. With the possibilities of digital technique, he produces works that relate specifically to architecture, and with designs that envelop building facades, wall surfaces, floors and ceilings, and physically site-specific works, the artist uses a language that thinks and works together with architecture.
Considered one of the most prominent Austrian artists, Peter Kogler's works are exhibited in many international museums and public spaces. He lives and works in Austria.
