KADRİ AYTOLON (1878 - 1957)
Aytolon was born in Istanbul in 1878. The painter, who was the son of İsmail Bey and Havva Hanım, worked as a cashier at the Mühendishane-i Berr-i Hümayun during his youth and was sent abroad because he had a break with the palace. He turned to painting by painting the regions he stayed in in the countries he went to. The life of the artist, who lived in different districts such as Fatih and Üsküdar on his return home, passed with great difficulty and struggle. In the late 1920s, he worked as an internal medicine officer at the Science and Literature School where the current Technical University is located. The paintings of the artist, who participated in two personal exhibitions and two group exhibitions, are based on the extensions of the impressionist technique developed around the local subjects. He died in 1957 in Istanbul.
