SUKRU CAGLAYAN (1939 - )
Born in Burdur in 1939, Şükrü Çağlayan graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1961 and then started to work as an Air Force officer. Throughout his career, he continued to work in charcoal, watercolor and oil paint, which was a hobby he acquired from a very young age. Many of his paintings and posters of his period are about his professional life in the Air Force. He is one of the founders of the Air Force Museum and continued to work in the management of this museum until his retirement in 1993. Since then he has been painting and drawing full-time. He is especially known for the old houses, the streets of the Bosphorus and the coastal landscapes he painted with watercolor technique. He has opened many exhibitions with his works.
