Eren Eyüboğlu (1912-1988)
Eyüboğlu was born in Romania in 1913. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Art of Romania. She continued her education in Andre Lhote Atelier and held her first exhibition in Paris. Ceramic took her attention besides painting. In the first period of her art life, she dealt with the figurative approach under the influence of Lhote aesthetic. In her later paintings she moved to the colorist and local painting understanding that stems from the art of her husband Bedri Rahmi. With the inspiration gained in the Anatolian excursions especially in Bursa and its hinterland she reflected the local life and the rural motifs with sensitivity. Together with tendency towards color, she never neglected the constructional interpretation that causes dominant effect of the form and the general identity of the composition. In time, she improved her own style in her works, which incorpotae the Turkish woman figures in groups. She passed away in Istanbul in 1988.
