ZİYA TACİR (1968 - )

Ziya Tacir was born in Istanbul in 1968. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University, Department of Management Engineering in 1988, he completed his master's degree in business administration at Saint Mary's College of California in the United States in 1991. The artist, who turned to photography in 1999, opened his first personal exhibition called "Bomonti" at "Galeri Merkur" in 2011. Afterwards, the artist organized his personal exhibitions named "Rum Orphanage" (2013), "People's Palaces" (2015), "Seeking the Light" (2017) at "Gallery Merkur" and took part in many group exhibitions there.

In his works, the artist photographs the current state of architectural structures such as interiors, exteriors, industrial and production facilities, and also captures old textures and architectural details with a historical past. He presents his works, dominated by soft sepia tones, laminated on plexiglass using the chromogenic color printing technique. Ziya Tacir continues his artistic work in Istanbul.
