NAZIM ÜNAL YILMAZ (1981 - )

Yılmaz was born in Trabzon, 1981. Graduated from Anatolian University of Fine Arts Faculty in 2005. Completed his M.A in the Akademy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Although dealing with issues like identity and nationality as well as personal freedom, the paintings are not didactic, polemic or pedagogic, but invite the spectator to actively participate in the decoding of the painting in order to free him from his role of being a passive receiver. Nazım’s current pieces follow the idea of creating a poetic descriptive language which combines the power of human ratio and emotion. The artist’s combination of individuality, contextual awareness, artistic self-reliability, and the reflection on the state of art his work combines politics and poetics. He lives and works in Vienna.
