Yavuz Tanyeli

YAVUZ TANYELI (1950 - )

He was born in Trabzon in 1950. He graduated from the School of Applied Industrial Arts at Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (now known as Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University).

In his paintings based on broad brush strokes and expressive aesthetics, and in his "sculptural monsters" created with fiber materials, he is inspired by the rich spectrum that Eastern and Western cultures have opened to the visual world, primitive arts, and Black Pencil paintings. He uses art's opportunity for communication between people by utilizing the expressive style's sharp and effective understanding of form. At the same time, the artist says that he tells short but long stories in his paintings; He states that, like documentaries, most of his paintings are related to the life of that period, especially political issues.

Tanyeli, who participated in many exhibitions throughout his artistic life, exhibited his works in important galleries such as AKM, Yapı Kredi and Galatasaray. He continues his life and work in his workshop in Istanbul and Bodrum.
