TOMUR ATAGOK (1939 - )
She was born in Istanbul in 1939. She completed his art education at Oklahoma State University, California College of Art and Berkeley University in the USA. She returned to Istanbul in 1973 and worked as a teacher in secondary education institutions for a while. Between 1980 and 1984, she served as Deputy Director of Mimar Sinan University - Painting and Sculpture Museum. The artist, who pioneered the art scene in many aspects, is also the founder of the first and only "Museum Studies" education program in Turkey.
While I used to consider the space in art as a problem of relations between forms, I tended to perceive it as a changing and living tripartite relationship between the artist, the work of art and the art audience. The work created by the artist exists every time it is perceived by others. She held personal exhibitions, participated in national and international exhibitions and received awards. Tomur Atagok has been living and working in Demirciköy, Sarıyer, Istanbul since his retirement in 2006.
