Semih Zeki (1981 - )
Born in Bolu in 1981, Semih Zeki graduated from the Painting Department of Marmara University. The artist, who completed his master's degree in the Art Theory and Criticism Department of Işık University, opened his first solo exhibition in 2010 at Ütopya Platform under the title "What You See from My Nature".
Semih Zeki mainly uses architectural details and data in his paintings and creates a new architectural system by changing and altering all elements. While there are hints of the evolution of the entire structure or the part to the whole in his early works, in his later works he brings the part-whole relationship together with the audience with an increasingly abstract expression. In this process, which Semih Zeki describes as "the journey of painting to painting", the paintings are in a system that preserves their own special forms, gives birth to themselves, produces themselves and constantly renews itself with the connections they provide between each other. The artist, who opened the exhibitions “Gross Layers” in 2015, “Destruction” in 2017 and “Autopoiesis” in 2019 at Bozlu Art Project, continues his production in his studio in Istanbul.
