The Mecid-i Nişani Order is almost unused condition with the producer’s placate at the back and in its original etui with the producer’s logo stamped

RARE in this condition

Sultan Abdülmecid issued the “Mecidiye Medal” bearing his name in 1268 H (1851). The 5-degree Mecidi Medals were given to members of the military and religious sciences who showed superior service and success. They were also made, used and distributed by other sultans until the end of the Ottoman Empire. Mecidi Medals were made by the Imperial Mint and the sultan’s chief jeweler, as well as in workshops abroad. The names of the workshops where they were made are on the backs of the medals made abroad. The medal offered for sale in our auction is the 4th degree Mecidi Medal made by the famous Paris jeweler Kretly, the tughra section in the middle is slightly curved, surrounded by red enamel and the date 1268 is written under the words “Effort, Patriotism, Loyalty”. The diameter of the medal is 56 mm. The central part of the medal is made of gold decorated with enamel, and the body is made of silver.

Sultan Abdulaziz Period 4th Degree the Order of Osmanieh Date of Creation: AH 1278 (1861)

In original etui with S. Germont Limoges print with original ribbon

Although there are minor enamel flakes, it is in very good condition

It was established by Sultan Abdülaziz in H.1278 (1861) under the name of Nişan-ı Osmani. The 4-degree Nişan-ı Osmani medal, which is the second highest medal of the empire, was given to Ottoman statesmen and soldiers for their superior services in the state. The medal, which is in the form of a 7-pointed star, has enameled front and back, in the middle there are double drums and alem symbolizing the independence of the Ottoman Empire, and the foundation date of the Ottoman Empire, "year 699" (1299), written in Hijri, is written on it. The 4th Degree Nişan-ı Osmani, which is 63 mm in diameter and offered for sale in our auction, is in its original etui printed by S. Germont Limoges in France with its original ribbon.

The 1854 Holy Alliance Medal was awarded to the British and French soldiers who fought on the Ottoman Empire's side against Russia in the Crimean War of 1853-56. The medal, which symbolizes the alliance of England and France against Russia, has the British and French flags on its front, with a Grenadier Guard saluting a French rifleman with a drum and cannon in the background. The medal reads "Holy Alliance" in French and English on its front, and the French inscription "England and France united to defend the oppressed and avenge the insulted Europe" on its back. This medal is produced in silver, white alloy, bronze and printed in English and French on the back. The rarest model is the silver one, and medals with French writing on the back are less common.

A VERY RARE MEDAL FOR THE "FALL OF SIVASTOPOL", PRINTED BY THE ENGLISH IN 1855, OF WHICH ONE EXAMPLE IS ON EXHIBITION AT THE ROYAL MUSEUMS GREENWICH AND THE NATIONAL ARMY MUSEUM IN ENGLAND...

The 1855 Fall of Sevastopol Medal is a very rare medal minted by the English, given to English, French and Sardinian officers and soldiers who fought alongside the Ottomans after Sevastopol was bombed and captured by the Turks. A known example is on display at the Royal Museums Greenwich in England, while another example is on display at the National Army Museum. On the front side, there is a laurel wreath with the flags of the allied countries Ottoman, England, France and Sardinia and the words "Fall of Sevastopol 8 September 1855" written around it, and there is also a view of the battle of Sevastopol. At the bottom of the front side, there are the names of the cities of Sinop and Hango, which played an important role during the Crimean War. On the back side of the medal, there are the names of the allied countries and the words "The Allies give peace to Europe on 30 March 1856".

The Quadruple Alliance Medal was produced to symbolize the unity of the Central Powers Ottoman, Germany, Austria-Hungary and Bulgaria in World War I. On the front side, there are portraits of Sultan Reşad, King Wilhelm II of Germany, King Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary and King Ferdinard I of Bulgaria, along with their names and the word 1915 in Roman numerals. On the back side, there is a cavalry figure with a shield consisting of the coats of arms of the Central Powers and the word 1916.
