Ottoman Bronze Astrolabe Dated 1222 (1807)-The astrolabe, which was manufactured in the Engineering School in the Ottoman Empire during the Sultan Selim III Period, consists of a main body, five discs, a ruler and a fixing apparatus. The astrolabe, which is a historical measuring device used in astronomy measurements, is an instrument that indicates time by using the position of the Sun or star. It is adorned with astrological zodiac symbols, geometric rulers and inscriptions expressing the months of the year with the engraving technique to make astronomical calculations. With the development of other instruments for observing and determining time, astrolabes continued to be used in the Islamic world until the twentieth century. This astrolabe, which is very valuable as the Ottoman date 1222 (1807) is written on it, is a rare collectible example of its kind.
