Ottoman Regie Administration Joint-Stock Company, 1 Share of 200 Francs, 1914

With the famous Muharrem Decree of 20 December 1881, the authority to collect the important taxes of the state and the duty of paying its debts was given to the Duyun-u Umumiye Administration. This Administration, by making an agreement with the Government, established this company in 1884 in order to purchase, process and sell tobacco used for domestic consumption in all Ottoman lands except Eastern Rumelia, Lebanon and Crete for a period of 30 years. Its capital stock is 4.400.000 TL (100.000.000 Francs). This capital stock was created by the Ottoman Bank, the Austrian Bank Creditanstalt, and the Bleichröder Bank in Berlin.
