MEHMET GÜN (1956 - 2014)

He was born in Ankara in 1956. Between 1976 and 1981, he worked as a professor at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He studied with Anton Lehman. He moved to Hausner's workshop in 1982 and received his diploma in 1983. He received the Golden Figure Award from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts in 1978.

His paintings are based on a spontaneous and conceptual approach in which stains, drawing and calligraphy elements are interpreted visually and abstractly on a linen and canvas background. Based on his conceptual understanding, Gün also interprets his works using stains and lines on a white background.

His works are included in important domestic and foreign collections in museums such as the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, Vienna United Nations Center, Istanbul Modern. He passed away in Berlin in 2014.
