Merih Akoğlu (1963 - )

Born in Istanbul in 1963, the artist graduated from the Photography Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at M.S.Ü. Merih Akoğul, who has published 15 books on various subjects, has opened over 30 photography exhibitions in Turkey and various parts of the world and has participated in group exhibitions.

Akoğlu, whose writings and critiques on literature, photography theory, plastic arts and music have been published in many newspapers and magazines, continued his work in Vienna with a scholarship granted by the Austrian Presidency of the Arts Department in 2003.

The artist, whose works are in various museums and collections, has taught photography at important universities in Turkey for 27 years. Merşh Akoğlu, who is a member of the Advisory Board of the Photography Department of the Istanbul Modern Museum, also continues to teach at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
