Veysel Akşit (1952-    )

His art enthusiasm which started in childhood games with his brother two years older than him, led them to painting. His older brother, Adil Akşit, was a pioneer in this field and entered the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts Higher Painting Department (now known as Mimar Sinan University). Following his brother's guidance in art, he also studied at the academy for a while. Enjoyable conversations with archaeologists, writers, architects, sculptors, painters and historians at home workshops in Istanbul Kurtuluş formed the cornerstone of Akşit's artistic life. Then he graduated from Izmir Buca Education Institute's Social Studies Department. When the Ministry of National Education offered the institutes the option to complete a license, he chose the Department of Geography. Because all the surface shapes in geography meant a part of the painting for him. Later, he graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Economics. He worked as a teacher and administrator in different schools. He served as the Denizli Central Public Education Director. He ensured that his students were closely interested in painting, music and theater at the schools where he worked. He often performed the stage arrangements and decorations of the end-of-year shows by himself. He made researches on folkloric values that were about to disappear in Denizli Gireniz Region. He was shown as the source person in the Ministry of Culture and TRT broadcasts on the subject. Understanding of art; Akşit, who summarizes as conveying the tides between the physical world he lives in and the world in him, has been continuing his studies in Izmir Canvas Painting Workshop since 2004.
