Murat Pulat (1978 - )
He was born in Akşehir in 1978. He studied at Marmara University, Atatürk Faculty of Education. Murat Pulat, who was selected as the 'Young Artist of the Year' in 2007, uses moving images in his works; In particular, the hypnotic effect of cinema on the masses indicates the viral states of the moving image, organized by circular arrangements of paint layers growing and multiplying from the center to the outside. He accepts every piece of paint he uses as data, that is, a signal, and in his paintings, he takes the visual images he constantly encounters out of their own fields and reconstructs them with the possibilities of painting. In other words, he places these images on the ground, applies the possibilities of painting on them and filters them. Pulat, who mostly uses movie images in his paintings, refers to the movies of the 1960s by using black and white, and when he colorizes, he sometimes uses objects colored by images consisting of black and white movie frames. Objects become colorful on a black and white background, and sometimes the colors are woven as a texture, as if creating the feeling of touch. The images in his paintings appear as a painting in terms of the chosen material and its usage characteristics. However, what the painting in question conveys to us is generally either cinema or photographic images: The painter took some frames of the movies he had watched before and turned them into painting. Pulat tries to share painting with the disciplines of cinema or photography and to transform these disciplines into each other. He continues his life and work in Istanbul.
